After you have completed the FAFSA, been admitted to UMD and received your offer notification, complete the checklist below to make sure your financial aid funds are paid to your account at the beginning of the semester.

Create a budget using your financial aid offer
Students:

Accept the loan amount you want to borrow; you do not have to accept the maximum amount you are offered

Complete your entrance counseling and your promissory note, which are required for first-time borrowers
Parents:

Request the Parent PLUS (if needed)

Complete your promissory note (required for first-time federal borrowers)
Graduate students:

Request the Graduate PLUS (if needed)

Complete your entrance counseling and your promissory note (required for first-time borrowers)
- Report all scholarships and other outside sources of funds
- Review the requirements and your responsibilities as a financial aid recipient laid out in our Policies section
- Review your enrollment level to make sure you’re full-time: 12+ credits for undergraduate students and 48 units for graduate students
- Check Testudo for any holds
- Set up direct deposit
