Freshmen Connection is a fall semester extension program offered to all freshmen students admitted for the spring semester.
Participation in Freshmen Connection is optional, but interested students must first confirm their enrollment at the University of Maryland (UMD) for the spring semester. Through this program, students have the opportunity to:
- live on campus during the fall semester
- take up to 17 credits during the fall semester to help fulfill UMD undergraduate requirements
- utilize the university's academic resources
- participate in UMD activities and organizations
Eligible Freshmen Connection (FC) students may apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By completing the FAFSA, eligible FC students will be considered for the state of Maryland (in-state students only) and federal financial aid programs for both the fall & spring semesters. In-state students who enroll in FC during the fall semester will be considered for fall and spring institutional grants (Terrapin Commitment and University of Maryland Grant) if eligible. Please view the types of aid we offer for eligible students. Eligible students will be notified about their financial aid offer using our Financial Aid Offer Timeline.
