A University of Maryland grant requires the following:
- Eligibility:
- Undergraduate students
- Be classified as an in-state student for tuition rate classification purposes
- Completion of FAFSA or the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) by the priority deadline
- Demonstrate financial need
- Enroll full-time (12+ credits) per semester (Fall/Spring)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
Merit scholarships provide financial offers to some of the University of Maryland’s most academically talented incoming students. Details regarding Freshman Merit Scholarships and Transfer Merit Scholarships can be found on the Office of Undergraduate Admissions website.
The Terrapin Commitment program requires the following for consideration:
- Undergraduate students
- Be classified as an in-state student for tuition rate classification purposes
- Completion of FAFSA or qualify to receive the Federal Pell Grant, or qualify to receive the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Educational Assistance (EA) or Guaranteed Access (GA) grant.
- Demonstrate financial need
- Enroll full-time (12+ credits) per semester (Fall/Spring)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
The Maryland Degree Completion Scholarship (MDDCS) is a financial aid program designed to promote on-time degree completion. The program provides undergraduate seniors with supplemental financial assistance to help address outstanding balances owed to the University of Maryland and to support registration for their final year or semester of coursework required to complete their degree.
Eligible students may receive an award of up to $4,000 for a maximum of 2 years.
You must meet ALL of the MDDCS requirements below to be considered for the scholarship:
- Students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year and demonstrate financial need.
- Borrowed the maximum subsidized and unsubsidized loan eligibility for the current year and/or maxed out aggregated loan limits.
- Students must be in good academic standing and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 or higher.
- Earned 90+ credits as an undergraduate degree-seeking student or an Applied Agricultural Certificate student with 45+ credits earned towards the 60 credits required to complete the certificate.
- Must have an outstanding balance owed to the University
Eligible students can submit an application through Scholarship Universe to be considered for the MDDCS. Once the application is submitted, please allow 7 - 10 business days for your application to be reviewed.
