A University of Maryland grant requires the following:
- Eligibility:
- Undergraduate students
- Be classified as an in-state student for tuition rate classification purposes
- Completion of FAFSA or the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) by the priority deadline
- Demonstrate financial need
- Enroll full-time (12+ credits) per semester (Fall/Spring)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress

The Terrapin Commitment program requires the following for consideration:
- Undergraduate students
- Be classified as an in-state student for tuition rate classification purposes
- Completion of FAFSA or the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) and qualify to receive the Federal Pell Grant or qualify to receive the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Educational Assistance (EA) or Guaranteed Access (GA) grant.
- Demonstrate financial need
- Enroll full-time (12+ credits) per semester (Fall/Spring)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
