My FinAid Account

Setting Up My Account and Viewing My Aid

Approximately one business day after the date of your admission letter, you will be able to create your UMD Directory ID and password (or search for your existing ID) by visiting identity.umd.edu.  Please refer to Important Dates to view the tentative date of your financial aid offer notification.

Use your Directory ID and password to access your FinAid account where you will be able to view your financial aid status, billing statement and more.

Within your FinAid account, you can view your financial aid options in the "Financial Aid Offer" section. Here, you can enter the amount of loans and/or work-study you want to accept. Grants and scholarships are automatically accepted.

You can also request adjustments to your Direct Loan offer, learn of missing documents or necessary action items through this portal.

Getting My Aid

The following information will help you learn what is needed to receive your financial aid in a timely manner:

  1. For the 2024-25 FAFSA, April 1, 2024 is the University of Maryland's FAFSA priority deadline. The FAFSA must be filed each year.
  2. Make sure all document requests are completed. These requests can be found in the "To-Do" section of your FinAid account and upon completion, can be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid.
  3. Undergraduate Students: Your financial aid was calculated based on the costs for a full-time student. Although students can receive a Direct Loan for enrollment in 6 credits, your aid package will be adjusted if you are not enrolled full-time. Hint: Most scholarships and grants require full-time enrollment.
  4. Graduate Students:  Enroll for at least 24 units or at least 18 units for 12 week programs.
  5. If you are receiving a Direct Loan, you must complete your master promissory note and if you are a first-time borrower, you must also complete Loan Entrance Counseling before your loan is given, both of which can be completed at StudentAid.gov.
Keeping My Aid
