The University of Maryland Office of Student Financial Aid's mission is to provide quality customer service regarding financial aid matters to our students as they matriculate through college in pursuit of their academic goals.
It is our belief that no academically qualified student should be denied access to educational opportunities at UMD due to a lack of funds. Therefore, as a financial aid office our primary objective is to assist students and families in planning for and meeting expenses associated with attending UMD. Our primary goal is to award need-based financial aid consisting of scholarships, grants, loans, and Federal work-study to eligible students. We endeavor to ease any stress or confusion that students encounter as they submit documentation, apply for financial aid and accept their award.
Our staff is sensitive to the complex needs of students and their families; therefore, our office also provides in-depth one-on-one financial aid counseling to students and families who may be experiencing special circumstances that may prohibit them from meeting the financial demands of attending college or qualifying for aid.
In support of UMD's recruitment and retention efforts we also actively participate in outreach events at neighboring high schools, community centers, and during on-campus events.
If you ever need assistance or have suggestions on how we can better provide services to students and their families please contact us.
