A transcript may be an acceptable substitute for an exact copy of a return by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and lending agencies for student loans and mortgages. A tax return transcript will show most line items contained on the return as it was originally filed.
Tax filers may request a tax transcript of their 2015 federal taxes directly from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Tax transcripts are free and can be requested one of three different ways:

To get a copy of your tax transcript online, review our printable step by step IRS Transcript Request Guide and follow the instructions. You may visit www.IRS.gov and under the “Tools” section, select “Get a tax transcript”.

To request a tax transcript by telephone, please call the IRS at: 1-800-908-9946.
At the prompt enter the following tax filer information:
Social Security Number, press “1” to confirm number.
Street number from address, (for example: 301 oak street, you would just enter 301).
For a “Tax RETURN Transcript”, press “2”.
Select 2015 for the tax year.
